Association Internationale du Clocher de Collioure

After a pause in July and August, the rehabilitation of the church and bell tower resumed in September.
The exterior work on the bell tower is now complete and the last scaffolding has been dismantled, allowing the bell tower and the east side of the church to now be seen completely renovated.

Masonry work on the north face of the church continues as normal and the mild autumn temperature is making this work easier. The work should be completed in early 2024.
Many less visible works, such as, roofing of three lateral chapels, work in the latrines, asbestos removal work in certain areas, and other works have also been carried out.

Since the beginning of November, the restoration program for four lateral chapels has started with the removal of the altarpieces and their paneling.
This work will focus on the following chapels: Sainte Lucy, the Christ chapel, the Saint-Jean chapel and the Holy Sacrament chapel.
The preliminary phase is currently being carried out and will be completed by the Christmas holidays.

This phase will be followed by masonry work which will continue for several months as salt has to be extracted from the walls. The restoration of the altarpieces will be carried out by a specialized workshop located in Toulon and will also require several months of work due their high level of deterioration.

2024 will continue to be an important year with the completion of the exterior work of the church, the rehabilitation work on the interior of the bell tower, the continuation of the restoration of the interior chapels and the work on the nave. The completion of this work in 2024 is also linked to obtaining funding from various levels of government.
