In continuity with what was written during the update of the site in the summer of 2022, the rehabilitation of the Church and the Bell Tower of Collioure are continuing on a regular basis and the results are increasingly visible.
In regards to the Bell Tower, the cleaning operations of the freestone facing, the preparation and regrouting of the joints are continuing. The scaffolding of the upper part of the Bell Tower should be removed during the early months of 2023.
January 2023 also saw the finalization of the painting of the dome and the placement of the granite ball on top of it. The dome of the Bell Tower can now therefore be seen in its entirety. The work related to the campanarian continues, this includes the removal and installation of the bells, their brushing, the replacement of the yokes and the manufacturing and installation of the abat-sons. These operations will be completed in the early months of 2023.
At the same time, less visible work on electricity, video surveillance and wifi access is continuing. In addition to the continuity of this work in 2023, the altarpieces of four chapels will be removed in the first quarter of 2023 in order to carry out the waterproofing work on the walls of these chapels.
The restoration of the altarpieces should begin during the same period.
